Project: Erby Place Pocket Park Upgrade, New South Wales
Date: Nov 2016
Brief: The public open space at the corner of Erby Place and Phillip Street in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta’s popular Eat Street precinct required an upgraded to provide a more relaxed urban refuge for workers and restaurant goers. The City of Parramatta approached Spark and other urban furniture companies to submit designs for the furniture. The design brief called for references to the lush garden of China roses that once grew in the park, surrounding an inn, until 1867
Solution:  Spark submitted two designs, one of which was chosen for the design. Abstract roses, laser cut into the seats, dissipate heat and cast shadows to create a lovely effect on the paving. The seats include a laser-cut dog lead hook for canine friends.
